Dynamic, Alternative Rock influenced by Life. Rock, Folk, Country and Blues all play a role in the songs & sound of John Leonard Band. From the reminiscent days of a rowdy teen to heartfelt tributes to those who’ve gone before us, the songs will move you in many ways. Each set-list offers variety with songs inspired by life's lessons, trial and error, relationships, parental wisdom, love and heartbreak, hope, and even inspiration from our nation’s military heroes.
John Leonard's guitar, vocals and harmonica deliver the perfect blend that is a testimony to his love for creating music and his dedication as a songwriter. His storytelling is magnificently supported and enhanced by the clever beats of Kirt "The Trik" Ottosen on cajon and misc. percussion, “Bass Man” Bill Karle with skillful bass-lines holding up the low end and, Bill "Fireman" Giffin on guitar, keys and harmony vocals. All members are extremely creative in their own right.
At their shows you'll also hear about 25% cover tunes sprinkled in their mix of original songs. John Leonard Band can fit right in, nearly anywhere, performing regularly at festivals, fairs, clubs, charities, private parties, coffee shops... They often play to represent their nonprofit music project, MusicWorks4Veterans, founded by military veteran John Leonard in 2012, promoting music as being therapeutic and beneficial to healing & recovery. All JLB members are volunteers of MW4V.
"The songs, the sounds and the passion will catch you early on and have you moving and singing right along, like you were listening to an old favorite!" - Terry Gangstad, Creative Arts Director for WMG
